Community Workshop Offer
Tour Workshop

As part of the touring production Showgirls and Sharks, we offer a pre-show community workshop led by director Nerida Bradley and performer Stephanie Gawne (FooFoo LaBelle).

The workshop is designed to introduce participants to the themes of the production through confidence building, movement and storytelling, using the playful language of cabaret. It mirrors the structure of the community taster workshops previously delivered as part of the project
Sessions are relaxed, inclusive and suitable for a wide range of participants. There is no expectation to perform. Participants can engage through movement, discussion or observation depending on their comfort level. Workshops typically take place prior to the performance, offering audiences and community groups a deeper connection to the work before attending the show. Participants will explore confidence and stage presence, storytelling drawn from personal and local experiences, and the relationship between physical expression and narrative.
Showgirls and Sharks Title
For groups seeking a more structured session, Stephanie Gawne can also deliver a cabaret routine-based workshop on request, where participants learn a short sequence rooted in cabaret style and technique.

Delivery and Technical Requirements
The workshop is fully self-contained. All props, materials and any required sound equipment are brought by the facilitators.

We require access to a clear, open space suitable for movement. Access to power is helpful but not essential. No additional technical support is required from the venue.

Accessibility and Audience Engagement
We are committed to making Showgirls and Sharks accessible and welcoming to a wide range of audiences. We are able to offer a touch tour prior to the performance. This includes a guided introduction to the set and stage space, audio description of costumes and visual elements, and the opportunity for audiences to come onto the stage and physically explore aspects of the environment.
This offer is particularly suitable for blind and visually impaired audiences, as well as neurodivergent audiences or those who may benefit from familiarity with the space before the performance. We can also offer early access to the venue for individuals or groups who may prefer a quieter, more relaxed environment before the audience arrives. We are happy to work with venues to tailor this offer to meet specific access needs and ensure audiences feel comfortable, prepared and included.
